Mil Palmeras is a compact beach resort on the coast of Pilar de la Horadada, the southernmost town of the Costa Blanca, sitting between upmarket Campoamor and the fishing village of Torre de la Horadada. Its long sandy beach and palm-lined seafront have made it a favourite with Spanish families for decades, and in recent years it has become one of the busiest new-build hotspots on the southern Costa Blanca. Property for sale in Mil Palmeras ranges from older beachside bungalows to modern apartments and penthouses with rooftop solariums, most within walking distance of the sand and close to both Murcia and Alicante airports.

ApartmentMil Palmeras beach and the palm-lined seafront
The name means a thousand palms, and the palm-fringed seafront is exactly what you see first. Playa de Mil Palmeras is a wide, sandy beach with gently shelving water and has regularly been awarded the Blue Flag. It has lifeguards in season, beach bars and easy access from the promenade, which makes it a practical beach for families with small children and for older residents.
Walk north and you reach the coves and beaches of Campoamor; head south and you are soon at the beaches and small marina of Torre de la Horadada. Within about 15 minutes by car are the calm, warm waters of the Mar Menor lagoon at San Pedro del Pinatar, a real bonus in spring and autumn when the open sea can feel cool.
New-build apartments and older bungalows: what is for sale
Mil Palmeras has two distinct housing stocks. The original resort is made up of low-rise bungalows, townhouses and small apartment blocks from the 1970s to 1990s, often right next to the beach but with dated interiors. Since the late 2010s, a series of new-build developments has added modern apartments with communal pools, gardens, underground parking and large terraces or rooftop solariums, mainly on the inland side of the resort towards the N-332.
Many foreign buyers like the new-build blocks for their energy efficiency, lifts and turnkey furnishing packs, while Spanish buyers often prefer the older homes closest to the sand. If you buy off-plan, make sure your lawyer checks the building licence and the bank guarantee or insurance that protects your stage payments.

Renting in Mil Palmeras: summer demand and long-term lets
Rentals are a key reason investors look at Mil Palmeras. Summer holiday demand is strong and very Spanish, with families from Murcia, Madrid and the rest of Spain booking by the week, fortnight or month in July and August. Outside summer, demand comes from northern European visitors wintering on the coast and from workers and families looking for long-term homes.
Long-term rents for a two-bedroom apartment are approximately €750–€1,250 per month, with new builds and sea-view homes at the top. Summer weekly rates are considerably higher. For holiday lets you need registration in the Valencian tourist-dwelling register, the national rental registration number required since July 2025 and, for new tourist lets in community buildings, the approval of the community of owners required since April 2025. Check the community rules before you buy with rental income in mind.
Airports, the N-332 and the AP-7 from Mil Palmeras
Mil Palmeras is one of the best-connected resorts on the Costa Blanca for flying. Región de Murcia International Airport at Corvera is approximately 40 km, around 30–35 minutes by car. Alicante–Elche airport is approximately 65 km, around 50–55 minutes via the AP-7. The N-332 runs along the inland edge of the resort, and the AP-7 junctions nearby lead north to Torrevieja and Alicante and south to Cartagena and Murcia.
For shopping, there is a small commercial area with supermarkets and restaurants in the resort, larger supermarkets in Pilar de la Horadada town, and La Zenia Boulevard around 15 minutes north. For hospital care, the Hospital Universitario de Torrevieja and the hospital at San Javier are both within roughly 25 minutes.
Golf, the Mar Menor and daily life around Mil Palmeras
Lo Romero Golf, an 18-hole course in Pilar de la Horadada, is about ten minutes inland, and the Real Club de Golf Campoamor, Las Ramblas and Villamartín are within around 15–20 minutes. Cyclists and walkers can follow the coastline north towards Campoamor or explore the salt flats and dunes of the Salinas de San Pedro del Pinatar regional park across the Murcia border.
Everyday services, schools and the health centre are in Pilar de la Horadada town, a short drive inland. Mil Palmeras itself is quiet in winter, with many homes used as second residences, so if you plan to live here year-round, choose a development with a good number of permanent residents.
